Terms & GPL

Open source license
Isle is free software, distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPL v3). It is a fork built on two upstream projects — Atoll (a Dynamic Island for Mac) and open-vibe-island (the coding-agent backend). Per the GPL, you are free to use, study, modify and redistribute the source code under the same license.
What Polar support pays for
The GPL lets us distribute paid builds, but Isle is not locked by a license key. When you support Isle, you're paying for a signed, notarized, ready-to-run build, update delivery, and ongoing development — not for permission to use the code, which the GPL already grants you. You're always free to build Isle yourself from source instead.
No Mac App Store
Because Apple's App Store terms conflict with the GPL's anti-DRM provisions, Isle is not distributed through the Mac App Store. It ships as a notarized download directly from us.
Refunds
If the signed supporter build doesn't fit your workflow, email us within 14 days of support for a refund.
Warranty
Isle is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law and as set out in the GPL v3.
